There is a new breed of good person out there. The person who gifs Sylvie.
And then there’s the old breed (the rest of us), who will reblog a gif regardless of the quality because who doesn’t regif Sylvie.

CultureDANCE: Lauren Anderson

"Honey, I’m a chick that loves to dance. I’m not one of your little frail, anorexic ballerinas. I’m an athlete."

Ms. Anderson is an American ballet dancer and a former principal dancer with the Houston Ballet. In 1990, she was the first African American ballerina to become a principal for a major dance company.

she’s beautiful but i don’t like what she said.. no need to shame thin people.. or bring in a mental disease like what that’s not necessary girl

ALSO, that second photo is of Shannon Harkins.

despite that lauren anderson is a bad bitch i love her

I’m really excited to share this with you guys: the first ever guest-post on DaveTriesBallet! Check out this awesome piece by Ed Urwin, professional dancer with American Repertory Ballet and my old teacher at Princeton Ballet School. I really enjoyed reading what his ‘normal’ day entails and hope you do too.
